Only
4 more weekends left!
(a recap of things going on at
LRP)
posted on
August 21
That's
right, the season is winding down at Lancaster Raceway Park with only 4
more stock car racing weekend races left on the schedule. With 6 rain outs
so far this season, the racing has been quite scattered at LRP with only 2
out of 4 shows completed in May, 3 out of 4 in June, 3 out of 5 in July
and so far 1 out of 2 in August.
The 3
remaining races left at Lancaster before the big US Open all have a
division off each weekend. Next Saturday the SST Sportsman are off, the
weekend after that the Late Models are off and the final weekend before
the US Open, the Modifieds are off. The next big event at LRP is September
2, for the Mr. Modified 50.
The point
races in all the divisions are quite close compared to years past. For

Lets take a
look at who's having at great season at LRP so far...
JIM
BRYANT
In his sophomore season in the Street Stocks at Lancaster, Jim Bryant has
got his car hooked up and is proving it with 1 win and he is the current
points leader.
RUSSELL
KNUTSEN
After not having the greatest 2005 season, Russell Knutsen has been doing
great in 2006 posting 2 feature wins and is usually a front runner.
WAYNE
BERNHARD
Just like the past few years, Wayne Bernhard is on his way to the 2006
Super Stock Championship.
FRANK
BATISTA
In his rookie year in the Super Stocks, Batista has won once and is in 3rd
in points and is usually up in the top 5 on raceday.
FRANK
BOOKER JR
After having a lot of mechanical problems in the 2005 season, Frank Booker
Jr has returned to LRP in 2006 with help from Putneys and won the season
opener and is 2nd in the points.
NICK
CAPPELLI
After running a Modified in 2004 and taking 2005 off, Cappelli has
returned to the Sportsman class at LRP and has won 3 times this season and
is leading the points.
CRAIG
DOLPHIN
After having a decent 2005 season, Craig Dolphin has exploded onto the
scene running up front and winning once already this season.
BOBBY
WEBER
After recovering from an injury in 2005, Bobby Weber has returned to LRP
in 2006 in winning fashion and is currently the point leader in the Late
Models.
TOM
MCGRATH
The 2005 Modified Champ is one of the strongest cars at LRP and always
seems to be able to get himself to the front.
