A Write Up for a Rainy Day.

posted on May 13, 2006

Well, Lancaster got its first rain out of the season on May 13th. It almost seems as mother nature likes when LRP runs on Sundays better.

Considering theres no racing to report on, I figured this would be a good time to recap what's happening at Lancaster so far this season.

In the Street Stocks, many new drivers have entered the division such as Ed Nowak, Cory Gallagher, Matt Jurek and Steve Cochran. With the absence of the 2005 champion, Frank Batista and Dave Johnson, I'd say anybody has a good chance of winning on any given night at Lancaster in the 30 - 35 car street stock class.

The Super Stocks went off to a different start this year with a few new faces and a couple missing ones. Frank Batista, Rick Widmer and Kyle Sharpe, all former street stock drivers, have entered into the Super Stocks for 2006. Some drivers missing are AJ Cole who sold his car and Mark Hoch who is still currently working on his super stock after going to school over the whole off season. Look for Mark Hoch in his #07 street stock.

Not much has changed in the SST Sportsman except that Bobby Holmes isn't racing it anymore. Regulars Justin Shepker, Sherri Hogan, Russ Gian and Frank Booker have all returned as expected. A familiar face is Nick Cappelli. He will be a force to be reckoned with this season after already winning a feature in his second race since returning to the Sportsman division.

The Late Models are sure to be exciting this season with Bob Weber returning after his injury in 05. The Skora family have invaded the division with George in the 65, Scott in the 56 and Rich in the #75.

In my opinion, the Modified division is still up in the air right now regarding the car counts. I am not really sure how many Modifieds we will get each week but with that put aside, you are guaranteed to see an exciting show no matter how many mods are racing.
